Abandoned places, closed factories, decadent buildings. The smell of dust, mould, paint and spray.
After a two-years trip around Italy, from Torino to Palermo, in order to photograph artists and jam, Livio Ninni tackles another project, this one being more introspective and “dirty”, with the company of artists that crave those places and wants to leave their own mark.
“Residui” is a fanzine, a reportage, a photography journal created in order to discover the relationship between the artists and the urbex, the urban exploration that wants to tell their story of decadence.
Arduous paths in the metropolitan jungle amongst broken glasses and rust to discover forgotten places; urban and human leftovers, rests of a past that doesn’t exist anymore, crystallized in its concrete pillars, in its own barenesses and in the silence that wraps them.
Through the different frames it is possible to follow the architectural lines and the suggestive perspectives created with the landscape.
The colours are barely saturated in order to leave space to evident details capable of leading the viewer to an atmosphere of narration, while the “hidden” corners and point of views allow the photographer to keep a certain distance from what is captured.
